Crowds seemed thin on the ground this session, might be due to the prevailing winds blows our of the sewers or possibly from the Pucket's lucky sock pile... Even that wanted to be else where! With 24000 fans turning up for a day that would go down in the Records, if for nothing else than the smell!
The Steelers decided that hiring a Wondering Appoth might be a good call for this game, which gave the Buckets a change to call on Nurgle and Nuffle to aid them with 4 50k cards. The first card was revealed to be a magical waterboy, who know the right amount of puss to be put into the water buckets!
The Steelers started the game receiving and Blice made short work of the ball scoring before the Buckets had a chance to realize they were on the field. 0-1 on the first turn!
The Buckets rallied themselves and proceeded to fall over! giving the Steelers another chance for a TD. The error cost the Buckets with a 0-2 score in the forth turn.
The Buckets never looked like they were in the game, but now with the chance to get 1 TD before the half they went for it. With the rookie pestigor HIV Positive the only one in score range on turn 8, and surrounded by 4 rats, he had to make a blitz, and dodge to get out into the TD zone... then and throw was caught by the rookie and the half was over. 1-2
3 the rat ogre, after taking a hard hit, spent the most of the first half and second sleeping and nursing a headache. One other rat was also nursing a swollen ankle and could not take part in the rest of the match.
Second Half saw the Buckets receive... Knowing that they needed to clear the pitch and scroe quickly in order to win the match, the pain started. Death managed to score a crowd pleasing injury on Garythe the Lethal. The sound of the crack in his neck made the bookies go made and it seemed that Garythe had finally taken his last hit! But the appoth proceeded onto the field and check him over, giving him the all clear, saying it was just a stiff neck and the crack actually did him good.
While Graythe got lucky, some of the other rats were taking a beating. Blice the Quiet's big hand got in his way during a dodge and the Appoth believed that he had permanently torn some ligaments, but the coach though it was just a bad twist and might need a week off. The coach was right, that appoth got fired... out of a cannon!
Toe Jam was the unlikely scorer of the half as the only one out in the open to catch a throw from Typhoid in the 4th turn 2-2. Unfortunately for the Buckets, their star Death took a bad hit and was sent to the Dug out to sleep it off.
With only 4 to field on the Steelers side, the coach went down to the to bedding chamber to see that 3 the Rat Ogre was not actually OK'ed any more and was just having a chuckle with the Rat Nurse! Angry he demanded that all in the Beds get up now, throwing in some warpstone did the trick and the Rats had 7 on the field, but that was all they could field for the rest of the game.
Still the 7 did not managed to get a hold of the ball for long and the Buckets who manged to take the ball off some running rats and had 1 last chance with the rookie HIV Positive to score the winning TD. A pass from Typhoid to Ebola and then a handoff... that the rookie fail to hold onto. the pressure of the moment.
And at full time, the score was a Tie! OVERTIME!
The Buckets won the toss to received for overtime. However, some rat magic saw them strip the Buckets of the ball and score within the first 4 turns. 2-3
Death came back onto the field after this TD with a Vengeance. Eyeing up Graythe for another hit, the crunch this time was heard from the next planet. No appoth could re-attach his head as Death claws gave and quick snip! The other Rats spend the last few turns of the ground or attempting to harass Typhoid has he made his way to the TD zone. But it was to no avail, as Typhoid scored the equalizer 3-3.
After a 5 hour match, both coaches, realizing that the great Horned rat and Nurgle were not watching, walk out on the field and did something very... human... they agreed to toss a coin to see who would win.
The Steelers coach produced a 6 sided coin and proceeded to throw. Nuffle was watching and the Steelers got a '1'... The Bucket's coach made a throw after the Steelers. '6'
BUCKETS WIN!... both coaches shaked hands, and spread more disease that day than any other! The crowd, while small left after seeing a truly epic game. |
