There were constant predictions of bad weather but this never eventuated.
Three of the first 4 kick off rolls were all changing weather but it all stayed fair.
Most of the first half went to script with the Dark Elves receiving and scoring, the High Elves equalised and then the Darkies took a 2-1 lead. Then things got interesting....
The High Elves received with 2 turns in the half to equalise and sent 5 receivers down field to flood the defense.
The witch elf crunched one of the potential receivers, another was blocked and stunned leaving 3. One was double marked by side-steppers, and another was carrying an injury (AG3) and marked up so only 1 reliable option remained.
The High Elf thrower scooped the ball and ran downfield - the pass was almost intercepted but made it to the catcher who rolled double 1's to drop the pass leaving the half time score 2-1 to the Thunderbolts.
Second half saw the High Elves receive but the kick was perfect and the ball ended in the end zone. When the HE Thrower fumbled his pickup the ball bounced into the crowd and was tossed back towards the middle of the pitch.
The Darkies had a relatively easy recovery available to take a 3-1 lead but some very basic errors stopped this and eventially the High Elves got it back and scored for 2-2.
The Darkies then worked their way downfield and in the ensuing scramble the high elves tossed bodies at the ball but were themslves hurled into the crowd. 3 crowdsurfs in 2 turns lead to a BH and the death of star ÄG5 thrower Preident. The HE apo had already healed a RIP earlier in the game so there was no saving President..... except for the dark elves - they definitely saved bits of him as souvenirs.
All in all a good game that was quite close but very violent - 3 deaths from 5 casualties. |
