Shufflers threw in some cash to hire a wizard, won the toss and elected to receive (ie get the first hits in).
Their first block badly hurt a beastman, followed by a stun on the next blow. Twak was a little concerned..
Fortunately in the Vigilante's first turn the violence swung the other way with 2 casualties back to the Shufflers. The patented Vigilante 1-sided defence was paying off in the scrum, not so much on the scoreboard with some nice 'air Khemri' action scoring them an early TD in turn 3.
The Vigilantes were not too worried about this score and went to work for the rest of the half notching up another 2 casualties as they started their march down the field. Some nice distractions in the form of Tomb Guardians kept the Vigilantes from the easy equaliser and a blitz of the only receiver and a wizard on the ball-carrier left the Vigilantes with a scramble to get the ball over the line for the equaliser on the last turn of the half - AGI 4 gets it done.
The second half saw the Vigilantes receiving and while the Shufflers had some chances their physical presence was dwindling as the Vigilantes drove the casualty count up to 7-3 with a few KOs to go with that.
The Shufflers seemed off their game: only 2-3 fouls for the entire match and those only in the 2nd half.
In the end it was a by-the-numbers game from the Vigilantes, nothing exciting on the scoreboard, but we were able to come away without any lasting harm (or even using the apothecary) which is certainly better than the win!

Odd game in that it didn't have the usual moments of pendulum swing. The game just gradually, but continually progressed in the Vigilantes favour. Very few turnovers. |
