It was a day of blinding sunlight (-1 to pass) in the Ostermark as necromancer Birdman brought the Tomb-Shack-a-lack to bear on the field. The humans won the toss, and while the Officious Ref knocked out the humans’s star catcher, the Ogre immediately killed a flesh golem. It was a sign of things to come as the Humans bludgeoned player after player with a removal almost every turn in the first half. The undead got some back, but only managed two KOs, one with the help of the crowd.
The dwindling undead were corralled into the human right side as the ball was carried up the left. A handoff and run saw newcomer D Solanko (16, catcher) make it to the end zone after some dodging away from a snapping werewolf. There was still 3/8ths of the half to play and despite veering right and left the werewolves couldn’t quite make the end zone.
The second half started 10 v 10 and the ghouls collected the ball deep into their own half.
The line of scrimmage was soon covered in human blood as the ball made its way up the undead left flank only to be mobbed by players. The ball was knocked loose, only for a werewolf to collect it, dodge out of the scrum, and run like hell - until he fell over and spilled the ball again. The Ostermarkers rushed after the ball, collected it, handed it to their star thrower Vicario who tried for the impossible - a long pass in the glaring sunshine to the forward placed Solanko.
He shouldn’t have, as he fumbled the pass. The ball dropped, another crunch to gather it - while the humans killed a wraith to solidify their numbers advantage. The zombies were getting in on the act, seriously injuring two humans and making the apothecary work for his pay - but it was too late. Eventually Vicario collected the ball and completed a more modest short pass for Solanko to catch and score for 2-0 against a heavily depleted undead side.
