Match notes
Tonight the Eagles took to the road and faced the Warpfire Flamers who were underdogs so stadium officials granted the services of a Bloodweiser Babe to the rats to compensate. 1,000 more Edmundsheim supporters showed up than Warpfire fans so I got +1 FAME due to intimidation factor.

Grumpsh chose to receive, and after a quick snap, covered the ball and went to cover it to the right of the LOS. A few blocks put the Eagles linemen on the ground but a failed quick pass by a linerat caused a turnover and meant skaven thrower Fabristorm (who managed to pick up the bouncing ball) was left uncovered.

The Eagles marked their opponents, reformed their line, then with a guard assist, blitzer Fenchel knocked Fabristorm to the ground where the ball scattered away from the rats. Jorg Gowansohn dove in and recovered the ball. The skaven couldn't drop the side-stepping Gowansohn (throwing a total of nine dice at him but never getting a single POW) but did manage to mark him with a blodging, side-stepping, diving tackler (from now on referred to as "P.I.T.A.*").

The Eagles finally managed to remove Gowansohn from P.I.T.A.s clutches (having to use three players and a blitz) with a massive blow from ogre Abelard Blyndsinning who put the annoying rat bastard in the skaven medical tent. Njall Lumzden got into the act as well, seriously injuring a linerat. The amount of players used meant I wasn't able to cover Jorg as well as I would like and, next turn, the skaven finally dropped him with a lucky one die block, the loose ball scooped up by a gutter runner and punted next to the Eagles' end zone ready to be run in next turn.

Even with GFIs the Eagles couldn't recover the ball so they made do by knocking out a few rats and then put as many tackle zones on the ball as they could for the agility boosted Shess Shade was waiting close by to pick it up. Three TZs vs AG5. Agility won and the Flamers went up 1-0 on their turn 6.

With three turns to go, Edmundsheim pushed into into the skaven half after some cheering fans lent their vocal support. However, the extreme display of spirit shook the nerve of Tomas Wilkinsohn and he bobbled the pick up with very little support around him. The Flamers recovered the ball, and a turn later (despite the Eagles best efforts to drop and then cover the gutter runner ball carrier), ran in for their second TD of the night. 2-0 Warpfire Flamers.

With seconds left on the clock, setup for a 1TTD, frenzied blitzer, Njall Lumzden giving Jorg Gowansohn help moving downfield by way of skaven lineman move boost. A quick pass later, and a few re-roll laden GFIs and dodges saw the score deficit cut in half. 2-1 Flamers at half. (Thanks to Grumpsh for a few pointers on how to best pull off the attempt. Class act that man.)

Start of the second half and the Eagles' fans once again got into the action, storming the pitch and stunning five skaven players, including 2 out of the 3 gutter runners. Aaaaaaaand Wilkinsohn once again let the ball loose, this time tripping over his own feet in an attempt to get into defensive coverage. Thankfully, the Flamers couldn't pressure the ball much as most of their team was on the ground.

Wilkinsohn recovered the pigskin, and the Eagles began a methodical push up the pitch, trading KOs with the Flamers. At three quarter time, after very good pressure from Grumpsh, Tomas Wilkinsohn tossed a quick flea-flicker of a pass to Jorg Gowansohn who then blitzed his way forward for his second TD. (sadly, at the expense of a badly hurt Nordmann Kwong, clawed by the mutant, Chargelet.)

The gifted Bloodweiser babe ensured the Flamers' players recovered, mine did not fare so well. I covered as best I could, but wanting to keep my tacklers safe from marking I had to deny the use of my kicker, Mikkel Wilsohn. A Blitz! on the very short kickoff saw Norscan import Njall Lumzden surf the agility boosted Shess Shade into the crowd but Shesses' quick reflexes enabled him to scamper away from the fans, unharmed.

What looked like a touchback for the Flamers instead turned into a skaven linesman trying to play hero. Linerat Abscislik snatched the ball from the air, gleefully holding it up only to then meet the gaze of a very angry ogre. Abscislik then did what skaven linos do best, he scurried away and quickly dumped the ball into the arms of gutter runner Toxifink who then, covered by the rest of the skaven squad, ran in for the winning score.

With a turn left each, I attempted one more 1TTD which failed miserably as blitzer David Fenchel incurred Nuffle's wrath and double skulled on the blitz into linerat (and lucky bugger Abscislik). Thankfully, only being stunned in the failure.

Unable to score, the Flamers did a quick vanity pass, and then it was time for (you guessed it) Abscislik to meet the gaze of Nuffle and be found wanting. The game ended with skulls and a 3-2 win for the Flamers.

To round off the night: finally, after 17 games, linesman and "spud" J.C. Sherrit gained his first ever SPP, picking up the Eagles' MVP. Must have bribed the match commentators.

Fun game despite the fact I didn't foul once. Either too busy or only target was a linerat. Sad.
